With the counter recently clicking over to 365 days until the Commonwealth Games, I sat up and took notice. Since withdrawing from the World Champs team and limping home from Europe, I have been training away with not too many pressures or goals. I have started to put together a nice base for the coming year and been testing myself along the way with a few road races. Never in my wildest dreams did I see myself racing over 5km but I have notched up a second place and 2 wins over 10km & 12km races and I have enjoyed it!
So, I am considering targeting the 5000 metres next season with a view of racing over this distance at the Commonwealth Games. My old bones are thanking me for the respite from the track for the last 4 months and I am thinking minimal track work is good for me so, 5km, here I come. Watch this space!
